North Finistere

The road of the lighthouses
Brittany alone has more than 75% of the lighthouses in France. But it’s here, on the tip of Finistère, in the depths of the Iroise Sea, that you’ll find the greatest concentration of these characterful buildings, witnesses to the history and culture of our region.
These jewels of Brittany, which can be admired day and night, offer a real immersion in our regional heritage.
Most of them are now classified as historical monuments, and six of them can currently be visited:
Île Vierge lighthouse, Plouguerneau
Saint Mathieu lighthouse, Plougonvelin
Stiff lighthouse, Ouessant
Trézien lighthouse, Plouarzel
Petit Minou lighthouse, Plouzané
Kermorvan lighthouse, Le Conquet
The Lighthouses and Beacons Museum traces the history of maritime signalling. It is located at the foot of the mythical Créac’h lighthouse on the island of Ouessant.

The Saint Mathieu point
The Pointe Saint Mathieu, a place not to be missed in North Finistère!
Steep cliffs swept by wind and sea, an imposing
lighthouse standing watch over the ruins of an ancient abbey…
Here, the charm works.
Saint-Mathieu Point will amaze young and old alike!

Le Conquet
Maritime city of the Pays d’Iroise, Le Conquet is one of the main fishing ports of Finistère. The city unfolds in its alleys a rich ancient heritage.
Le Conquet is also the starting point for the islands of Ouessant or Molène.
Berthaume
Built by Vauban in the 17th century on a rocky islet to watch over the port of Brest.
Its geographical position allows it to always have an eye on the entrance of the Brest Narrows, the arm of the sea that connects the Brest harbor to the Atlantic Ocean. Today, the fort is accessible via a footbridge and is
visited in summer.

The village of Meneham
With 300 years of history, the site of Meneham is full of life-size stories!
On the road, when you arrive at the outskirts of Meneham, you will be surprised by the silhouette of the stone houses, huddled behind the rocks, in the hollow formed by the dune.
